How to reach Big Buddha via Ngong Ping rescue trail? Beautiful hike under the cable car Ngong Ping 360 that leads you to Ngong Ping Village, Big Buddha and the Po Lin Temple. At the foot of Lantau Peak a majestic Buddha and temple are waiting for you. 

How to get to ngong ping 360 rescue trail from tung chung station?

The bus stop is on Yu Tung road, the path to the entrance of the trail goes along the sea side. It takes around 2h30 to 3 hours to reach Ngong Ping Village. The beginning is with stairs was a bit tough but with a remarkable view. Don’t worry the rest of the trail is mostly under the forest, with nice wooden paths, shadow and view on Hong Kong airport and the sea.

On the way to your destination

Starting from Yu Tung Road, the path leads you to Ngong Ping 360 rescue trail entrance. We loved the landscapes and got very lucky with the natural colours that day. A blend of greens & blues, turquoise, transparent water. An incredible blue sky offer the best spectacle.

1 - Ngnong Ping 360 rescue trail

On the way to the village, some part of the trail makes us feel in Europe. Indeed the vegetation, freshness and wooden stairs reminds us home. After climbing the stairs you’ll arrive under the cable car and follow the cable. The all track is along the mountain going up and down.

2 - Ngong ping village

After the effort the comfort, time for lunch and drinks then visit the Po Lin Monastery and take a look at the big buddha. Since the pandemic started Hong Kong is very quiet. For the first time in 4 years we took the cable car back to Tung Chung. Beautiful experiences.

Po Lin Monastery is a Buddhist temple founded in 1906 by monks from Jiangsu province. Beautiful colourful temple located on Ngong Ping Plateau in Lantau island

2 - Tian Tan Buddha
Big Buddha Tian tan (天坛大佛) Tian Tan = Temple of heaven. In Beijing there is the Temple of heaven. It has been finished in 1993 after 12 years work. Made of bronze, the statues measure 34 meters high. Tian tan is surrounded by 6 small buddhas who symbolize the six perfections of generosity, morality, patience, zeal, wisdom and meditation.

3 - Ngong Ping 360 cable car

Ngong Ping 360 cable car after the Tian tan buddha, the cable car take us in the sky back to Tung Chung is about 15 minutes. Very convenient way to go back.

3 – Don’t forget the sun cream, energizer and water.
