In this article you will find all the details to hike the Sharp Peak in Sai Kung. Sharp Peak is a challenging hike which requires some quick climbing. Firstly, note that the hike is on the way to Tai Long Wan. Second, the beginning of the hike is easy for about 40 minutes, then you’ll start climbing the peak. It will be a bit more challenging. Finally, the peak is located at the edge of Sai Kung, it offers a 360 degrees view on the sea and mountains. End up there worth your energy, the view is rewarding.
The bus stop Pak tam Au is the beginning of the hike. It takes 2h30 minutes to reach Ham tin beach via the peak. The paths are well maintained until you reach the entrance of the trail. Then it will be a natural path created by hikers. However, some parts are rocky and require to climb a bit. To go down and reach the beach there’s a lot of gravel, a bit slippery.

Starting in Pak Tam Au, the path leads you directly in the forest. You’ll have a fantastic view on the sea and mountains. Later you’ll walk along the sea path and go up to the hill. Once at the top, you’ll sea on your left side a small path with stair. It mentioned it is a dangerous path and unstable. This is the way to Sharp Peak.
On the way to sharp peak you’ll encounter those rocky roads, gravel and slippery path. Be careful and make sure to be safe. The hike is challenging but feasible. In summer it is quite hot and lack of air, can be difficult to manage the hike depending on your health conditions.
The best moment after such effort, arriving on the beach, take off your shoes, walk in this amazing soft sand and crystal clear water. In summer arriving on is Sai Wan is the best reward.
Tips for your trip :
1 – Wear hiking shoes to avoid to slip
2 – Get prepare to hike back, with covid and winter there are less or non-existent boat service.
3 – Take enough cash and your octopus car for transportation and restaurant.
4 – Bring swimming suits and towel. Can’t resist for a swim.
5 – Don’t forget the sun cream, energizer and water.
