MORNING TRAIL FOR THE BEST VIEW – HONG KONG HIKE

Hello hiking lovers ! The Morning Trail is a beautiful promenade through verdant paths, starting from Sheung Wan, taking you up to Victoria Peak. For a stunning 360 degrees view.

You’re living on Hong Kong Island and looking for an easy gate away from the city ? A stunning view of the city at night or day ? Dreaming of escaping the buzz of the city ? Being surrounded by luxurious nature ? The morning trail is the perfect escape for a quick energizing walk toward Victoria Peak.

How to go to the morning trail from Sheung wan ?

Departure : Hatton Road.
Duration : about 2 hours if you go around the peak via Lugard Road (picture below).
Difficulty : Easy (good for cardio).
Recommended : Bring water. & Sneakers.
Budget : Free.
Tips : Beautiful view by day or by night. Avoid cloudy days if you expect a panoramic view.

On the way up to the peak, 307 meters above sea level, Pinewood Battery was built at the beginning of the 20th century by the British Army to protect Hong Kong’s interests. The vestige of the past is still visible and now converted into a picnic area with large green grass.

Along the trail there are signs to present the biodiversity of the site, it is a nice trail for families. If you’re lucky enough you can encounter wild pigs.

Once you arrive at the end of the, there several paths available.

Victoria Peak offers a stunning view on Hong Kong Skyline, you can stop by and have a snack before going back. Loving having a coffee at the peak just for the view 360 degrees view.

Lugard Road lookout is highly recommended for fantastic visibility on Hong Kong Island & Kowloon. The down can be to Admiralty, Sheung wan, Sai Ying Pun, or even the reservoir of Pok Fu Lam.

Another way up or down is Hong Kong Peak Tram, over 120 years old, the terminus is located at the Garden Road Peak Tram Lower Terminus nearby Admiralty station and the beautiful Hong Hong Parc. There are several ways to go up and down the peak, all with very good access from/to the city.
