Po Lin Monastery : Buddhist Temple in Ngong Ping – Lantau island, Hong Kong
0
Hello dear explorer,
Po Lin Monastery construction was initiated in 1906 when three monks from mainland China came and discovered the beautiful Lantau Island. At that time the monastery was smaller. Its original name was Tai Mao Pung, this is in 1924 that the monastery was named Po Lin.
What to know about the Monastery :
The complex is constituted of several parts, pagodas, gardens, shrines, and halls to welcome worshippers and visitors. During your visit, discover priceless relics. Paintings of Longcan Sutra and the monk Huayan Buddhist Sutras are displayed to visitors.

Tips for your trip :
1 – Take the cable car from/to Tung Chung MTR.
2 – A sunny day will be even better.
3 – Hike the Lantau Peak and finish at Ngong Ping Village.
For those who like challenges :
Start with Sunset Peak and finish with Lantau Peak !
Sunset Peak is the second-highest Peak on Lantau Island. It stands at a height of 869 meters above sea level. For a majestic view on the island with an incredible experience above the clouds. There are several ways to reach the peak. One of my favorites is to start from South Lantau Road (Near Nam Shan Barbecue Area and finish in Pak Kung Au on Lantau Road).
Enjoy,
